Committee hears reports on playground removals, textbook recycling and a rescued duck family
Summary
Staff briefed the committee on removal of broken playground sets, disposal of old precalculus textbooks via district recycling, and a staff-assisted relocation of a mother duck and six ducklings from a high-school courtyard to a nearby pond.
Frank Lord reported several smaller operational items to the committee. He said two broken funnel ball sets were found behind the maintenance shop and discarded, with some salvageable items to be listed on Wisconsin Surplus. On classroom materials, Lord said stacks of old precalculus textbooks were removed and confirmed the district has commingled recycling dumpsters for paper disposal.
In a lighter but notable incident, Lord described a staff-assisted animal relocation at Germantown High School: "Several staff members assisted with directing directing the ducklings into a large box. The hen then followed them. They were then safely brought down to the pond and marsh area, and released." Committee members responded positively to the outcome and to staff initiative.
These items were recorded as part of the work-order and summer-project updates and no formal committee action was required.
