Commissioner Rama Schneider distributed notes from an experiment using Google's Notebook LLM (referred to as Gemini) to ingest multiple Williamstown town plans and compare recurring themes. "It bases its answers completely off of those documents, it does go outside for some information – but very little," Schneider said, describing the tool’s document-focused approach.
Schneider told commissioners he had uploaded plans dating back to 1995 and 2009 and that the LLM highlighted persistent community values across generations. Commissioners praised the work as "very interesting" and Schneider offered to bring his laptop to a future meeting for an in-person demonstration.
