The Williamstown Planning Commission began mailing its Town Plan survey this week, Chair Rich Turner said, with remaining mailings scheduled for Sept. 11 and drop-off boxes placed at the schools, the library, Pump-n-Pantry and the Town Office.
"They want to run it thru October," Turner said, adding he will post reminders on Front Porch Forum and coordinate with staff member Eli to confirm a hard deadline. The commission included a QR code and an online option for households; Turner said the survey will be used to shape goals and strategies for the town plan update and that mailed surveys allow multiple household members to respond.
Commissioners discussed how to channel volunteer interest signups from the survey into concrete committee opportunities. Rama Schneider urged that the commission provide meaningful options rather than leaving volunteers without follow-up. The commission expects to use survey results as a backbone for spring meetings and to align its schedule with the Regional Plan process that will include a public comment period on the future Land Use Map beginning in December.
