Vice Chair Oanh Nguyen told the Planning Board that PO Square "should drive the economy in Sharon" and urged a proactive approach to attract more commercial stores and mixed-use development.
Nguyen said she had seen a professional planner produce a sophisticated downtown plan at a recent conference and suggested using the Kendall Trust balance and hiring a grant writer to fund consultant work. She identified the Mass Downtown Capital Initiative Program (deadline June 3) as a concrete opportunity and said she will draft a letter to Fred Turkington and provide it to the chair for review before sending it onward.
