Council considers changing meeting time and will solicit public input

The Alliance City Council discussed whether to change the start time of regular council meetings and directed staff to seek public input before taking formal action. Vice Mayor Mashburn said she was open to adjusting the meeting time, "suggesting 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. as possibilities," and emphasized soliciting community views. Councilman Turman said a later meeting would work better for his schedule but stressed the importance of encouraging citizen participation.
City Manager Cox advised that under Nebraska statutes the council has authority to set meeting date and time by ordinance and said staff would place a blank ordinance on a future agenda after review of public feedback and research. The council did not vote; the item was discussed to set a process for outreach and future consideration.
