"Golf carts can serve as practical transportation, use less fuel than full-sized vehicles, and are permitted in many other communities through local ordinances," Schnell told the council.
Vice Mayor Mashburn asked whether Schnell had data on likely local usage; he said he did not have specific numbers but had not heard community opposition. Councilman Hitchcock encouraged staff and council to further evaluate the issue, noting the city already addresses electric bicycles and scooters and that similar considerations would apply. City Manager Cox recommended compiling a list of potential advantages and disadvantages and soliciting public input, with any draft ordinance to be brought back for formal consideration if the council chooses to proceed.
