Commission authorizes materials order, temporarily borrows deposit from Maintenance fund

The Williamstown Cemetery Commission approved placing an order for materials needed for fence work and authorized using cemetery Maintenance funds temporarily to cover the required 30% deposit. Susan Lyons told the board Sept. 25 that rkMiles has the material in stock and that contractor Mike MacAskill requires a 30% deposit of $1,014 before starting work. The board voted to borrow the deposit from Maintenance and to reimburse the line when Trustee of Public Funds releases the requested funds.
Daphne Herwig moved to take the deposit from the Maintenance budget; Matt Walker seconded and the motion passed. Later in the meeting Matt Walker moved to place the order for the materials (total close to $5,000, including top rail and special screws) and the board approved that motion as well. Lyons said she has sent a letter to the Trustee of Public Funds requesting funds but had not received a meeting date as of Sept. 25.
"I’ll make the Motion that we take the deposit for Mike MacAskill out of Maintenance in our budget and replace it once we get the money from the Fund," Herbig said during the discussion. The commission recorded the planned deposit and the procedural direction to reimburse the Maintenance account once Trustee funds are received.
