Following public comment and council discussion on Sept. 5, the mayor called a roll-call vote and the council adopted a property tax rate of 0.52565. The motion to adopt 0.52565 was made and seconded in council and carried in a recorded roll-call vote.
The council then voted to ratify an ordinance to reflect the property tax revenue increase in the adopted budget. The ordinance vote was recorded with four ayes and one no (William). Council members discussed that the cent differences between 0.51 and 0.52565 translate to relatively small per-household impacts while providing budget coverage for added fire and street expenditures.
