The Gunner City Council voted 3–1 to appoint Patrick John Favia to the vacant Place 3 seat after accepting a resignation earlier in the meeting. The council moved to accept the resignation and then held interviews in executive session before returning to open session to make the appointment.
Mayor pro tempore announced the motion and the council debated the candidates’ strengths across roles such as the municipal development district (MDD) and planning and zoning. After nominations and a second, the presiding official confirmed the tally as a 3–1 vote: "So is that a 3 to 1? That's a 3 to 1. Okay. So that motion carries." Patrick John Favia was then sworn in; the oath was read aloud as: "Patrick John Favia. Do solemnly swear or affirm that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of the city council place 3..." The council said they will follow up with assignments and onboarding, and staff will formally seat him at the dais.
The council also thanked the departing member for service. The resignation acceptance was recorded as unanimous earlier in the meeting.
