Summary
A change order adding $1,619,246 to JE Construction / TAF Construction’s contract (total $8,960,283.70) was approved; county staff said the increase stems from easement shifts and is within GLO limits and covered by grant funds to meet a Jan. 31 construction deadline.

San Patricio County commissioners approved a change order adding $1,619,246 to a drainage contract for the Sinton Channel, bringing the total contract price to $8,960,283.70, county staff said.
Grant manager Melanie Cooper explained the increase was needed after revisions to acquisition and temporary construction easements moved the work area and required additional work; she told the court the change is ‘‘within the 25% allowable by the GLO’’ and that grant funds are available to cover the increase so the county can meet a January 31 deadline to complete construction. The court approved the change order by voice vote.
County staff said unit prices did not change and that the adjustment was driven by project scope related to right‑of‑way and easement work. The action keeps the project on track to meet the grant‑imposed construction completion deadline.
