The Gunner City Council approved a zoning change on July 17 that adjusts roughly 1.15 acres on the Court of Audrey/289 frontage from single-family (SF-1) to C-1 commercial.
Planning staff explained the change is largely a cleanup of a strip-zoning anomaly created during an earlier corridor rezoning; the front portion of the lot is already zoned commercial and currently houses a temporary modular building for a Texas Bank branch. Staff told the council the rear half of the parcel would be rezoned so lot lines and zoning depth match and recommended standard buffers and masonry screening between the commercial and adjacent single-family lots.
Applicant representatives, including branch manager Carrie Van Sant, said they plan to construct a more permanent building at the frontage in the future and emphasized a community-oriented approach: "we wanna get into the community and help the community. That's what this bank's about," she said. Council opened and closed the public hearing and approved the rezoning on the floor.
