Gunter planning staff outline Preserve construction, truck-safety steps and TxDOT coordination

Eric said developers are importing fill to reduce the number of retaining walls and that engineering plans for bridges and street improvements are out for bids. He flagged a contractor-safety incident involving a dump-truck driver and said staff have spoken with the contractor and truck drivers to remind them of safety responsibilities.
On regional traffic, Eric and council discussed frequent coordination with TxDOT. Eric said bringing intersection design plans forward — including potential protected turn lanes or a roundabout — could make the city more competitive for future funding. "If we had those design plans in place ... it would immediately increase our chances of getting the funding necessary," Eric said.
