The Commissioners Court approved reinstating the county cell phone allowance effective 07/01/2026 for employees who returned county-assigned phones and appear on the authorization list.
County staff explained the process for employees who returned phones and how payroll timing affects the first allowance payments: "So, by doing that, I have to have authorization from the court to give them back the cell phone allowance," a county staff member said, adding that employees without county email will be given logins to complete required steps. Commissioners discussed adding employees to the authorized list and noted that the allowance will not appear until the next pay period if payroll has already been processed.
The court approved the motion by voice vote and asked staff to return authorization forms to the minutes for recordkeeping. One commissioner asked that an individual who had not yet turned in a phone do so prior to being added to the list.
