County engineers and precincts report seal coating, chip sealing and bridge inspections; bids for Precinct 1 road project approved

Commissioner Yardley said crews were preparing County Roads 2004 and 1906 for seal coating and expected work by the end of the week, cautioning motorists in Precinct 2 about closures. Gonzales and other precinct representatives described mowing, chip sealing, ditch cleaning and mosquito spraying across Mathis, Centenary, Odum and Saint Paul areas.
On bridge work, Gillespie said TxDOT inspected the bridge on 1360 (Old 100) and identified work needed on pilings; "TxDOT said if we want the bridge replaced, they have no money to do it," he said, noting the county will do additional work and paving when conditions allow.
For a Precinct 1 road construction project, John Hernandez (the county engineer) asked the auditor to advertise for bids; Hernandez told the court, "I've, I've not generated the cost estimates yet. We're still in the process of defining the limits," and commissioners discussed sections covered by existing MOUs before approving the action to advertise.
