Tax assessor raises new entities and collection totals as FY2027 budget item

Marcy, the county tax assessor-collector, told commissioners her office is picking up three new entities for the 2026 tax year — a countywide groundwater district, Sinton Ranch MUD (238 parcels), and Aransas Pass PID (initially 4 parcels with potential for more as replatting continues). She said the new entities may require the tax bill to expand to two pages and noted the office signed contracts with two entities already.
On collections, Marcy reported the tax office collected more than "$14,000,000" via credit card for the 2025 tax year and said the office returned $391,000 in sales tax commission to the county. She also reported DMV-related collections of $5,600,000 with $1,300,000 retained by the county, and said $299,002.71 was collected for entities the office serves.
