Mayor James A. The mayor emphasized the role of the Hampton-Newport News Suicide Prevention Task Force and urged citizens to use and promote resources such as the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline.
"The 988 suicide and crisis lifeline is available to Virginians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to provide free and confidential emotional support and crisis intervention," the mayor said while presenting the proclamation to Dr. Daphne Cunningham, executive director of the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board.
