A staff member presented a step-by-step timeline to review city compensation and benefits, telling councilors the review will include market comparisons and public engagement steps. "On July 30, I'll be presenting it at the very moment session to show where we are compared to similar size cities or cities of similar scope," the presenter said, and noted additional review dates on Aug. 27, Sept. 10, public hearings in October and a possible final vote on Dec. 10.
The proposal would include further data refinement and an optional special committee to advise changes; staff said filling committee seats could be challenging and that the calendar is an option for council consideration. No binding changes were adopted at this meeting; the dates are scheduled as opportunities for debate, public hearings and a final decision if the council moves forward.
