The High Point Finance Committee approved a package of routine procurement items and sole-source purchases during its July meeting, covering cybersecurity licensing, water and wastewater equipment, and laboratory instrumentation.
Virginia Baskin, Information Technology Assistant Director, asked the committee to approve a renewal with SHI International for Checkpoint firewall licensing and support at a cost of $136,530.79, noting a $6,939 reduction from the previous year. "The renewal cost is a $136,530.79," Baskin said.
Water Resources Director Allison Craft presented several sole-source purchases: ABB Incorporated for switchgear cleaning and spare breakers ($187,661) after consultant recommendations following earlier electrical issues at the Ward Water Treatment Plant; DXP Enterprises for a replacement blower at the Ward plant ($112,405) to maintain consistency; Carolina Seals for a replacement return activated sludge pump at the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant ($60,269.22); and FIA Lab Instruments for a flow injection analyzer used to test phosphorus and nitrogen compounds ($60,301.31). Craft said these purchases are either budgeted planned replacements or are sole-source because of equipment consistency and original-supplier qualification.
Committee members asked routine questions and approved each item by voice vote. Staff indicated funds are available in the current fiscal year or are budgeted for planned replacements.
