The city described Alice Court as providing 10 first-time-homeowner units, with officials saying six of the homes are already occupied and contracts are in place for the remaining four.
Officials and staff described the project'including site work and infrastructure'as being supervised by the Grand Prairie Housing and Neighborhood Services Department and completed in about five months. One staff speaker said much of the pipes, drainage systems and streets for the development were completed "by city hands," emphasizing municipal involvement in site work.
A resident at the ceremony described the personal impact of the move, saying the location offers convenient access to schools and other services and called the experience "life changing" for her family.
