City staff announced that the results of the May 2 general and bond election are official, naming incumbents Georgia Clemson and Bessie Adams as winners of their respective council seats and confirming voter approval of a $327,000,000 general obligation bond package.
The announcement said Clemson, who ran unopposed in City Council District 1, and Adams, who defeated Marquetta Nimmo for Place 7 at-large, will each serve three-year terms. City staff also reported that no candidate secured a majority in District 3, sending that race to a runoff scheduled for June 13 between David Chappell and Amber Timberlake.
The approved bond package, described by the city as a $327,000,000 general obligation bond, will fund public projects including streets, public-safety enhancements and parks and recreation facilities, the staff statement said.
