Parks planning administrator reports construction progress, reuse plans for Lou Huff rec center and surf facility

At Lou Huff Park, Elander described a selective demolition approach to salvage durable materials for reuse: portions of the gym floor will be cut and repurposed as tabletops, structural beams will be reused in site furniture and the scoreboard will be relocated to exterior courts. He called the salvage effort a way to preserve community history while limiting waste.
Elander also updated the board on trail earthwork at Windhoist Park, paving and playground installation at James/Quail Creek parks, and plan‑set reviews for John Paul Jones and Duck Creek Audubon Trail. He said some projects remain on hold pending funding or agency review timelines.
