Commissioners approve SPD amendment and 2026 health plan rates; staff cites improved plan performance

HR Director Gary McLean and Chris Merrill of IMA Corp. presented proposed 2026 health-plan rates and a summary plan description amendment to ensure small mental-health providers are treated as in-network for reimbursement purposes. "We actually had a good year in the health insurance plan. Around 78 percent loss ratio," McLean said, adding staff would propose a measured 5% premium increase for medical and dental and no change to vision for the 2026 calendar year.
Merrill described large-claim trends and stop-loss arrangements and noted the county’s membership level and prescription trends. After discussion the board voted unanimously to approve the SPD amendment and the proposed 2026 premium schedule and authorized the chairman to sign the amendment.
