Representatives from SpyGlass described a telecom and IT cost-audit service that analyzes recent invoices to seek historical recoveries and identify future savings by eliminating unused services and benchmarking rates. Nick Opankar, SpyGlass director of sales, said the firm works on contingency and requests two months of billing plus a letter of agency to begin a review. "We do an analysis over our clients' technology spending," he said, explaining the firm looks at voice, internet, data, wireless and cloud services.
Commissioners asked whether SpyGlass had coordinated with county IT; the vendor acknowledged limited contact and the board directed staff to connect SpyGlass with the county IT liaison (Commissioner Richards is the IT liaison) for technical vetting. SpyGlass outlined its fee model — a 50/50 split on historical recoveries and a 12-times multiplier on first-year forward-looking savings — but commissioners stressed IT should evaluate the proposal before the county pursues any agreement.
