County extends stage 1 fire restrictions through Sept. 17

Fire Warden Allen Adams asked the board to extend the county’s stage 1 fire restrictions beyond the previously scheduled expiration date because drought and low moisture levels persist. "I am requesting that we extend this, the fire restrictions," Adams said, citing regional moisture reports and coordination with surrounding counties and the BLM.
Commissioners discussed whether to set a fixed end date or revisit at the next meeting; after brief comment the commission moved to extend the restriction through Sept. 17, 2025 and approved the motion unanimously. Adams said he would continue to forward moisture reports to the board and would rescind the restriction if conditions improve.
