The board approved a 2025–26 Law Enforcement Agreement with Kalkaska Public Schools for $54,797.40 and allowed the chair to sign, providing school-resource coverage under the terms discussed. Commissioners also accepted a FY2026 Snowmobile Grant for $8,000 and accepted an FY2026 ORV Law Enforcement Grant for $45,000 in operations plus $28,650 for equipment. The board additionally accepted an ORV Safety Grant for $750.
Commissioner Persons moved to allow the sheriff to apply for a Two Seven OH Inc. grant for Animal Control to replace the roof up to $20,000. Administrator/CFO Whiteford said the roof replacement would be paid from grant funds if awarded. The motions passed by roll-call votes with Matley absent.
