Special Magistrate Jeff Fuller granted respondent Ruth Randlett a second 30-day extension to bring multiple St. Petersburg rental units into compliance, setting a deadline of Sept. 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
Randlett told the magistrate she has completed expensive roof and structural repairs on parts of the parcel, removed many vehicles and equipment, and arranged for relatives and tenants to help finish painting and yard work, but she said progress slowed after her husband’s recent hospitalization. "We've removed a lot of the vehicles that were there, equipment that was there, most of them," Randlett said while describing ongoing repair efforts. County Senior Officer Jewett countered that photos taken during inspections show deteriorated soffit and fascia, trash and a prohibited vehicle recently present on the property. The county asked the magistrate to deny a second extension, citing a case history going back to October.
Magistrate Fuller acknowledged Randlett’s efforts but cautioned that promises were not sufficient: "You seem to have good intentions, but you've got to put them into action," he told her when announcing the 30-day extension. The extension applies to the violations the county cited; failure to meet the deadline may result in enforcement measures including daily fines as previously described in the record.
