Mr. Latham, the county’s Road & Bridge supervisor, told the commissioners the department closed 13 work orders in May and currently has roughly 84 open. He reported sealing and resurfacing work across multiple county roads that together covered roughly 36 miles.
"We resealed a bunch of Macos Road...so roughly 36 miles of road we covered there in about 2, 10 days pretty much," Mr. Latham said. He added the county is completing a 40-foot bridge on County Road 3D6 and expected to open the approaches this week after the concrete cures. He said crews plan to start a 60-foot bridge on County Road 274 after the July 4 holiday.
Latham also emphasized the need to resolve an advance funding agreement with TxDOT related to Park Road before the county breaks ground on the allocated work, warning that delays would force the department to reassign funds: "If we wait till after we break ground on it, we'll have to redo those allocations." The court asked staff to coordinate a meeting with TxDOT representatives to resolve funding and scheduling issues before July work commences.
Outcome: the court accepted the Road & Bridge report and requested staff resolution of the advance funding agreement prior to the next scheduled work and the June 23 meeting.
