The Newbury Selectboard approved a contract with Charles Knight to perform an archaeological dig on Tucker Mountain before construction of the All Persons Access Trail. The Board approved the contract on a motion by Andrew Lee with a second from Shauna Prime; the estimated cost of the dig is $3,400.
The Board had earlier tabled the Tucker Mountain Ordinance after feedback at a recent information meeting, so the archaeological work proceeds now as a pre-development condition while ordinance language is further reviewed. No additional funding source was specified at the meeting beyond the contract approval.
