Downtown business association urges clear, phased rollout and better communication

The association representative said the group wants phased implementation and asked the city to coordinate timing so merchants can notify customers and prepare for temporary disruptions.
The representative urged use of interim solutions — borrowing vacant lots, shared parking arrangements with nearby developments, and exploring permit changes that would let business owners add parking on private lots. "We don't wanna start this, make this 1 way and not have a clear path forward all the way out," the representative said. Council members acknowledged the concern and directed staff to include a multi-step communications plan, temporary signage and a schedule before permanent construction.
