Commissioners add Dec. 24 as holiday but reject $250 Christmas bonus

After discussion about operations, staffing and budget constraints, Commissioner Richards moved to authorize observing current regular holidays while adding 12/24/2025 as an additional paid holiday; Commissioner Jones seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
On a separate motion to provide a $250 Christmas bonus to employees, commissioners debated fiscal responsibility versus employee morale. The motion (moved by Commissioner Richards and seconded by Commissioner Toman) failed on a roll call with two yeas and three nays; the chair announced the motion failed 3–2. Commissioners who opposed cited budget shortfalls and recent outside agency cuts as reasons to refrain from a bonus this year.
