Crime Stoppers tells court about anonymous-tip program, school outreach and recent arrests

Representatives from Crime Stoppers (Scribe Stoppers) briefed the court on program operations, casework and outreach. President Ernie Gluck described the organization's anonymous tip process, school-focused Campus Crime Stoppers work and a six‑month snapshot of activity that included dozens of arrests and hundreds of tips forwarded to law enforcement. Gluck emphasized that Texas law requires call-center anonymity and that a call-center outside the county receives tips to preserve anonymity.
"We're also focusing now a lot on the schools where people can give tips, or individuals or students can give tips about bullying," Gluck said, describing campus outreach and plans to distribute hotline information in backpacks and school materials. Commissioners thanked Crime Stoppers for partnerships and confirmed the county's continued support; staff noted the funding is already included in the proposed budget.
