Community advocates described years of advocacy and the impacts of previous school closures. "The time is now for us to get the fund that we need to fund a new high school in Fraser," said Johnny Hatton, president of the Frasier Community PTSA. School system staff described the project scope — including STEM classrooms and athletic facilities — and said the schedule aims for construction activity to begin as soon as funding and design are complete, with officials noting the earliest practical opening remains in the 2027–2028 window. Commissioners also requested stronger minority‑contracting commitments and clearer timelines from the school system as the project moves from appropriation to design and procurement stages.
