At questions about a reported $18,000 state reimbursement that had not been deposited, Mayor Davis said the payment was for a state appropriation linked to a project involving a councilwoman but that the city had already paid the contractor under a contract with that councilwoman. "The the reason why the, $18,000 reimbursement check has not been deposited is because that was in reference to a state appropriation that 1 of our council woman, that was doing a project had applied for, reimbursement on, but I found that it was with a contract between her and the contractor, and the city had paid on that contract," she said.
Davis said she is holding the reimbursement in the finance department until the legal issue is addressed, framing the hold as necessary to avoid an improper transfer of city funds while the matter is reviewed.
