Assessor reports storm damage; Board holds closed session on pending litigation and directs staff to act

Marshall County Assessor Blaze Wurr provided an update on recent storm damage and said he is working with Emergency Management to assess whether properties may qualify for assessment adjustments if repairs are not completed before Jan. 1, 2027. Wurr also urged residents to use the Assessor's Office for concerns rather than confronting field staff.
The Board entered closed session at 9:53 a.m. under Iowa Code 21.5(1)(c) to discuss pending litigation strategy with counsel and returned to open session at 10:44 a.m. After returning, the Board voted to proceed as discussed in closed session, directing staff or the County Attorney's office to take the necessary actions. Motions to enter and to end closed session carried 3-0.
