Board approves FY27 cybersecurity MOU; CIO says diagnostic data only will be shared with State service

Marshall County’s Chief Information Officer James Nehring presented and the Board approved the FY27 Cybersecurity Memorandum of Understanding, which continues the County’s participation in a program offering software monitoring and access to a 24/7 security operations center supported by State and federal resources.
During public comment, resident Layne Pieri asked whether the service would share information beyond election systems. Nehring clarified the data shared are diagnostic details such as system identification, IP address, installed software and patch levels, and that the agreement does not grant outside access to County files or databases. The motion to approve the MOU carried 3-0.
