Mayor Davis told the council she has stepped back from attending meetings that she believes have become consumed by conflict and do not allow the city to conduct business. "And until we could turn to the to conducting the city's business in a professional and respect for and productive environment that I not attend city council meetings that fail to serve that purpose," she said, adding that her office remains open and her administration will continue day-to-day operations.
Council members and residents have complained about perceived lack of transparency and the mayorand her attorneysnot returning communications. Davis disputed those claims, directing listeners to past meeting videos on the council YouTube channel and saying the city attorney and the council attorney talk "almost daily." She urged council members and the public to focus on constructive, professional dialogue and said she will resume attending when meetings meet that standard.
