Building and Grounds Director Lucas Baedke presented Change Order No. 10 and a $4,466.98 deductive Change Order No. 11 from OPN Architects and Garling Construction; the Board authorized Baedke to sign both change orders and confirmed the adjustments remain within the project budget. The motions carried 3-0.
The Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce, represented by CEO John Hall, requested use of portions of the courthouse grounds and adjacent parking for RAGBRAI activities (July 21–23), excluding Veterans Affairs areas. Hall said the Courthouse would be available as a temporary emergency storm shelter (not an overnight lodging facility) if severe weather arose; Marshall County Sheriff Joel Phillips cautioned that court-related responsibilities and clear communication about the shelter’s limited purpose are necessary. The Board approved the grounds use application 3-0, pending issuance of the Certificate of Insurance.
