The Kalkaska County Board opened a materials-management RFP and received a bid from Resource Recovery Systems for $62,652 but did not move forward with contract approval on Dec. 17.
Commissioner Robert Baldwin read the bid from Resource Recovery Systems and board members discussed cost concerns and how state funding would offset some costs. Administration noted $68,000 is available from the State for a three-year period and that the county is responsible for producing the plan but not for providing services. The board reached consensus to table the RFP review until Administrator Patrick Whiteford provides additional information at January meetings; the final Materials Management Plan is due July 2, 2027.
