Marshall County designates courthouse rotunda bulletin board as official posting place under new Iowa law

The Marshall County Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 on June 24 to adopt Resolution No. 2026-0024, naming the Courthouse first-floor Rotunda bulletin board as the County’s official location for posting meeting notices and job postings beginning July 1, 2026. County Auditor/Recorder Nan Benson said the change responds to amendments in Iowa’s open meetings law and that the site is visible to the public.
Benson and Chief Information Officer James Nehring told the Board the County will continue to post agendas on the Marshall County website (https://www.marshallcountyia.gov/) and that any amended agenda must be posted at least 24 hours before a meeting and marked "Amended." The resolution also allows individual boards or commissions to adopt a different posting location by separate resolution. The motion to adopt passed unanimously, 3-0.
