Councilmembers asked about handling embedded AI in widely used applications, edge/device AI, policy update cadence, and company footprint. Heisler said the platform detects behavioral signatures, enforces approved policies and provides alerts for suspicious AI use; the company tracks state and federal changes and can suggest policy updates for local review.
After discussion about evolving threats and the need for staff training, council authorized staff to implement Darwin AI with an amount not to exceed $28,000 and tasked staff to identify budget reallocation options to fund the purchase. The motion passed 6–1 (Council member Thompson cast the lone nay).
