Hutto DEIB Commission plans working groups and targets March for orientation

The chair described the working groups as "a big part of our work in the coming year" and commissioners agreed to open recruitment immediately with an orientation targeted for March 2026, pending consultant availability.
Members discussed delivery options, saying the training should include both in-person and virtual sessions so new volunteers can attend. Commissioners asked staff to ask consultant Stan for blackout dates and then narrow possible March windows; one commissioner said aiming for the first, second or last week of March would avoid spring break conflicts. They also discussed making training public so non-working‑group residents could attend and be inspired to join.
To sustain outreach, commissioners asked staff to clarify who receives sign-up notifications and whether copies of registrant lists should go to all commissioners or only liaisons. The group also proposed a shared internal calendar and clear liaison responsibilities (one liaison plus a possible co‑liaison) to avoid inadvertent quorum or participation issues at working‑group meetings.
