Hutto unveils sesquicentennial logo, sets Nov. 14, 2026 celebration at Fritz Park

Amberly Kolar, chair of Hutto's 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee, presented the committee's work and unveiled a logo capturing two local legends: the railroad's arrival and the town's 'hippo' story. The committee recommended Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026 at Fritz Park as the main celebration date and outlined subcommittees for history, funding/sponsorships, entertainment, food and cuisine, and arts and culture.
Kolar said the advisory committee — created on July 18, 2024 and composed of 20 members with representation from existing boards and 10 citizens — has met monthly and plans to return in February with subcommittee budgets. The committee is coordinating with the Chamber and the DHBA, exploring partnerships with the Bob Bullock Museum and local schools for historical displays, activity books, vendor outreach and locally produced 'swag' to offset costs. Charlene Martindale was credited with designing the logo; the committee said the image is still being finalized.
Council discussed logistics and access, including accessibility (ADA), parking and shuttle planning, contingency dates if Fritz Park construction affects access, and fireworks availability. Staff and committee members noted they will coordinate with Hutto Police Department and emergency management on safety plans. The committee also raised the possibility of staggered lead‑up events across city venues to spread attendance and manage traffic.
