School principals updated the board on academics and activities and recognized three Students of the Month. The board recognized Emma Taylor (elementary), Scarlet Fincher (middle school) and Jane Quintana (high school) as Students of the Month.
The high school principal reported that ASVAB testing is scheduled for next week and that it is a graduation requirement. Athletics updates included hosting district basketball, the close of powerlifting season, and upcoming softball and baseball seasons; FFA and county show activities were also noted. The elementary principal said fourth grade is preparing for state testing, added six new students to third grade, and said the school plans a special year-end outing for student-of-the-month recipients including renting a limousine and a trip to Marietta.
Superintendent's report recorded that the district will use virtual make-up days on Feb. 20, Feb. 27, March 6, March 13 and April 10 to make up days missed due to January weather; the minutes also note painting of the auditorium lobby and upcoming fence work at the softball/baseball field.
