Commission approves design contract to replace roofs at Mullins Station corrections housing

The Commission’s law enforcement, corrections & courts committee approved a resolution to authorize architectural design services for replacement of the inmate housing unit roofs at 1045 Mullins Station Road. Jonathan Russell, identified in committee as the corrections finance administrator, said the roofs are roughly 25 years old, increasingly patched and require design work to allow durable replacement.
The RFQ that produced the recommended vendor was RFQ 24218; the county is proposing to use FY25 CIP funds for the design contract, and committee members asked about MWBE classification and the firm Aaron Patrick Campbell, which staff confirmed as MBE.
Commissioners asked follow‑up questions about the procurement rotation and MWBE inclusion for county architectural and engineering rotating lists; staff promised to provide additional information. The contract was moved and approved by the committee and will move forward for final approval and procurement execution.
