Comanche County names Memorial Health System, Kirk’s EMS as designated ambulance responders

The Comanche County commissioners approved a resolution recognizing updated EMS ambulance districts and designated Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma and Kirk’s EMS as the primary ambulance response agencies outside Lawton/Ft. The Comanche County Board of Commissioners on April 6 approved a resolution acknowledging revised ambulance response districts and designating Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma (formerly Comanche County Memorial Hospital) and Kirk’s EMS as the county’s ambulance response agencies for areas outside the Lawton/Fort Sill city limits.
Commissioner Josh Powers moved for the recognition and Commissioner Ryan John seconded; the motion passed with Commissioners Powers, John and Chairman Johnny Owens voting aye. The board said the designation goes into effect immediately and referenced contract changes that moved the Apache and Carnegie EMS districts to Kirk’s EMS (Apache contract approved May 9, 2023; Carnegie contract approved Dec. 12, 2025).
Clint Langford explained the contract changes and stated there would be no expense to the county for the transfers. The change updates the county’s ambulance response map printed March 30, 2026 and clarifies which private agencies will respond in unincorporated areas outside municipal limits.
The action was recorded as a formal resolution and entered into the minutes; the board did not schedule further public hearings on the change at this meeting.
