Council approves equipment budget transfers for skid steer and replacement dozer

The Nixa City Council on July 28 approved two budget amendments to purchase public-works equipment: a $7,000 transfer to buy a skid steer for the wastewater department and a $174,256.03 transfer to replace an aged dozer in the street department.
Jason Stutzman said the skid-steer purchase required an additional $7,000 because vendor pricing rose after the budget was adopted: "The skid steer bid was $37,000... when I had done the budget, they quoted me $30,000," Stutzman said, explaining the need to shift funds from an under-budgeted trailer line in the water department. Travis Cassey reported the dozer replacement would draw on roughly $175,000 of approximately $475,000 in savings from the Cherry Street stormwater CIP; he said the existing bulldozer was red-tagged and unrepairable.
Both amendments were moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Council asked staff to finalize transfers and proceed with procurement.
