Amy Willis, director of Transitional Youth Services, told the board the department is focusing on interagency collaboration to support foster and homeless students and to elevate student voice. She highlighted a YouthWell partnership and described a recent all-day mental-health-first-aid training in which "36 people got certified in mental health 1st aid to better serve their students."
Willis said the department is moving from remote to more in-person regional work, planning a mini-retreat to support liaisons, and creating cross-district approaches such as monthly meetings with the Family Care Network to identify seniors for independent-living services. She emphasized that these relationships aim to create a stronger system of supports for foster youth countywide.
