Commissioners approve $5,500 budget transfer to buy county records scanner

Accounting specialist Rebecca Romero told the commission the amendment — resolution 25‑12‑CL‑02 — moves $5,500 from an underspent facilities capital line into the general county administration equipment line for a document scanner that will support the countywide record‑scanning project and replace equipment that is no longer functional. “This amendment does not increase the total budget, and there is no impact to the general fund reserves,” Romero said.
The hearing record included no public comment and Commissioner Jones moved approval; Commissioner Richards seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The commission noted the purchase is part of a broader digitization effort to improve records access and preservation.
The resolution was recorded and will be processed by accounting staff; commissioners said they expect the scanner to speed document retrieval and reduce manual indexing work.
