Residents ask council about recommended increases in water and sewer CIP investment
Summary
Two residents asked whether the Florida Rural Association recommendations to raise annual CIP investment for water and sewer (water from $107,000 to $357,000; sewer from $133,000 to $1,180,000) will be addressed this fiscal year or deferred.

During public comment, resident Tim Wunderman (S9) asked whether the Florida Rural Association recommendation to raise annual CIP investment for water from $107,000 to $357,000 and for sewer from $133,000 to $1,180,000 would be addressed this year or next. Staff (S4) confirmed that those were recommendations and said final funding depends on adopted rates and updated revenue figures.
Another resident, Jason Adams (S5), asked whether the recently proposed increases were intended to begin covering long-term maintenance shortfalls; staff and council members responded that the adopted 6% water-rate action is a start but that it will take multiple years to build the suggested CIP levels. "Do they get that correct, Mike?" Mr. Wunderman asked; staff acknowledged the recommendation and said staff would provide a truer revenue figure after rates are plugged into the budget.
