Board approves three-year property and casualty renewal through PCAT after limited responses

Mr. Schroeder told trustees the district solicited competitive proposals for property and casualty coverage but received only one qualified proposal—from Frank Pruski of La Verne Insurance, representing the Property & Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT). He said PCAT offered a three-year renewal proposal with coverage through the 2027–28 school year and cited lower premiums driven by improved loss ratios and reinsurance rates.
A trustee noted the district's premiums "went down by a 150,000," and Mr. Schroeder said deductibles and coverage limits remain virtually the same as the prior plan and that the new policy would take effect Sept. 1, 2025 if approved. Administration recommended approval and the board approved the renewal, 6–0.
